National Apex Body Customs Brokers’ Associations in India
Established in 1962, Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India (FFFAI) is the National Apex Body and the Sole Representative of 30 Member Associations from all over India representing 6500 Custom Brokers and Freight Forwarders, Shipping Agents, Logistics Service providers (employing over 1,10,000 people) and controlling ninety six percent of India’s international logistics trade. In addition, organizations, who are directly or indirectly connected with freight forwarding, shipping and commerce are also associated with FFFAI.
FFFAI is a non-profit making Federation Institute with 60 years of it’s services to EXIM trade as sole representative of Custom Brokers (Custom House Agents) and International Freight Forwarders. FFFAI enjoys consultative status on all the matters of importance concerning International Trade. FFFAI is the Largest Non-Governmental Organisation in the field of International Transportation in India and is recognized by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Ministry of Civil Aviation and various other Government Authorities. FFFAI is consulted on issues of policy decisions and trade development in regards to Customs Trade Facilitation measures with Custom Brokers Freight Forwarders, Multimodal Transport Operators, Shipping, Aviation and EXIM Trade.
In pursuance of its aims and objects, the FFFAI plays a constructive role in maintaining a constant rapport with the Customs, Port Trusts, Airport Authorities, Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), Central Warehousing Corporation, Central Excise, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), etc. to make its own contribution in the formulation of Policy and administrative measures and simplification of various procedures, For this constructive role, the Federation has been accorded official recognition and is represented on several official, semi-official forums of various central ministries like Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Civil Aviation and other Trade Bodies.
